Dear Advisors, Delegates, MUN Community, and Aspiring Diplomats,

Welcome to Laguna Beach Model United Nations! For the 2025-2026 year, our delegation is led by our two Secretaries- General, Kate Hennessy and Ciara Paul, who lay out a vision for our program and oversee our foundation and our annual conference, Laguna Beach Invitational Model U.N.

Founded in 1982 by Mr. Romaine Freisen, Laguna Beach Model U.N. has prided itself on educating and engaging high school students in international relations and encouraging political involvement. Since its founding, the program has grown to over 110 students, the creation of LBIMUN, the Multicultural Festival, and the Laguna Maasai Partnership. With a longstanding impact on the community, Laguna Beach Model U.N. hosted a City Council Debate, worked with community partners to increase political literacy, and assisted the Maasai People in Kenya. 

With a strong emphasis on student leadership and agency, our program is entirely student run, meaning that the program's education, conference planning, and much more is coordinated by the student leadership. While Mr. Jun Shen and Mr. Jonathan Todd provide guidance to our leadership structure, they allow the students to take the lead, allowing the development of students' leadership skills, along with allowing students to have a voice in what they are learning. 

We are incredibly honored to continue the legacy of Laguna Beach Model U.N. and are looking forward to seeing you at one of our events, whether that be our annual conference or a community partnership event.
